How to Host a Minecraft Server for Free

Some users prefer not downloading and setting up a basic Minecraft Server on their computers due to all the files, memory and ram a server can take up.

Now, you can host a Minecraft Server, completely free. It’s called Aternos and you can install plugins and mods based on what server software you choose!

1). Go to ‘aternos.org’. You might not know, but it’s German, so Teamspeak and Livesupport will be hard to understand.
Once you’re there, go to Guest and click Sign Up.

2). Type in Username, Email, and Password. Your name will count in your primary address. You need an email so you can activate your account. You’ll be finished signing up after this step.
(If you don’t get an activation mail, sometimes it’s mistaken as spam, so check your spam folder if you have this issue).

3). Go to Start Server near the button of your username. Just edit your version, ServerSoftware, ModSoftware, Version, and any
    preferences you’d like.

4). Click start when you’re ready. It takes around 30 seconds. When it’s started, do you see the ‘Dyn IP Address’? Type that
as your server address and other players need to type this, too. Be aware of your slots (Amount of players) and how much
are using the website to avoid connection problems that might crash your server. Press stop when you’re done, make sure to disconnect your Minecraft client first.

5). If you want to install plugins, got to a button near your username, and click files and plugins. The plugins need to be the exact
version of ServerSoftware you chose at step 3. You can only install 15 plugins. Your accounts can be linked with
Teamspeak and Livesupport. Since the site is based in Germany, you will need to know German to be able to get the proper help.

That’s it, have fun with your free Minecraft server!
